Abstract

|
En bloc transplantation of the pancreaticoduodenum and and kidney(PKT) was sucessfully carried out with pretransplantational portacaval shunt(PCS) in the rat. We described the operative techniue of the model which may contribute to experimental
field to
study diabetes with nephropathy. The afferent blood supplyis through the aortic segment containing celiac trunk. Superior mesenteric artery and renal artery and renal artery and efferent venous channel is suprarenal vena cava containing the shunt
anastomosis. Sixteen of the 20 isografts survived the transplantational procedure. Mortality was due the almost technical complications such as postoperative hemorrhage, vascular pedicle torsion and venous thrombosis. The survived grafts revealed
normal
histologic findings up to 4 months.
